The legend of the unicorn planet, whose inhabitants are known as the Modokai, is told by Schaumburg to Samuel Arctophile, the human journalist helping the Orishans to save the planet Earth, and to Cheryl Cruz, the woman married to an FBI agent who she believe was kidnapped by alien grays a.k.a. the Arjogun. The following legend appears in The Teddy Bear Conspiracies:

"Every school cub on our home planet knows this tale. The story of Bartholomew and how he tried to save a planet from destruction by the Arjogun, but failed.
It is one of the reasons Bartholomew traveled to Earth so long ago. He wanted to prevent the same thing from happening here (on Earth).
It was in Earth year 1715, on the planet Modokai. Modokai contained inhabitants not unlike your Earth horses. Except they all have horns on their heads, and are all colored white or pink."
At this point in Schaumburg's yarn, both Cheryl and Sam looked at each other saying the word "unicorns," out loud in unison. Schaumburg said nothing in acknoledgement. He continued his tale.
"The Arjogun visited the Modokai. The Modokai used very low tech, depending on magic for most of their creature comforts. The Arjogun wanted to settle on the planet, and the Modokai had no objections. At that time, Orisha assigned Barholomew to be ambasador to Modokai.
Things stayed peaceful for about 10 years. Bartholomew tried to warn the Modokai about the untrustworthiness of the Arjogun. But the Modokai believed in the goodness of all creatures.
So they did not object when the Arjogun began building what they said was a weather control device designed to control the planet's weather.
Barholomew stumbled onto the Arjounians' plans, and learned that the machine was actually a doomsday device. He learned that the Arjogun feared the Modokai and wanted to eradicate the species from the universe.
Bartholomew tried to warn the Modokai once again, this time bringing his evidence with him that showed the plans of the Arjogun device and its real purpose.
Most Modokai would not listen to Bartholmew. A few listened. He was able to transport those few safely off the planet before it was too late. One, named Dreamwalker, led the surviving Modokai. Some of his kind were already on the planet Earth, but remained hidden from humans. That kept them safe from both the humans and Arjogun when the Arjogun began to invade the Earth.
But back in tjhe mid-1700s, no Arjogun came to this planet. The refugee Modokai joined other Modokai here and some have befriended those Orishans who are members of the Mystical Order of the Golden Paw.
But most Modokai perished when the Arjogun blew up their planet. The destruction of Modokai horrified Bartholomew, and he vowed never to allow the Arjogun to do that to another planet again.
