Schaumburg was born November 24, 1999 at Build-A-Bear Workshop in Schaumburg, IL.

In seven years, Schaumburg has lived a very full life. For example, how many teddy bears can say they have flown in a helicopter, or walked the decks of a World War II vessel (LST 325) that had sailed back to America from Greece by 30 World War II veterans?

And what teddy bear can claim to have been present at interviews with everyone from U.S. Congressman to alleged murders?
Schaumburg writes a weekly electronic newsletter (sent free to subscribers) about teddy bears in the human world and teddy bears in their own secret world. His newsletter has been published every week since October of 2001. To subscribe humans can send an e-mail to Schaumy. Check out this week's newsletter online!

Schaumburg is sometimes called the "bear of a thousand careers" because he has been so many things. His wife Leni calls him the "everything bear". A sample of his many careers includes the following: He has been a reporter, an astronaut, an airplane pilot for the Bear Force, a Rough Rider (circa Spanish-American War with Teddy Roosevelt), a police officer, a monster-hunter, a private detective, a cowboy, a wizard, an archeologist, a magician, a swashbuckler, a superhero, a captain in the United States Army Teddy Bear Elite Forces, and is currently the Better Bear Bureau Chief.

Schaumburg is beary loving, always trolling for hugs from humans and other teddy bears.

He believes beary deeply in the principals of the Mystical Order of the Golden Paw. The Mystical Order's prime law is to treat other beings as you would have them treat you. Schaumburg believes that rule with all his heart and soul. His kindness has gotten him into trouble, however, being denied his License To Hug because he saved the life of an enemy solider once (which resulted in his Hug failing to complete a mission).

Schaumburg says he is much older than four, however. He said he was not born November 24, 1999, but was born on a planet called Orisha which orbits a star in the constellation known on Earth as The Great Bear. He said all teddy bears are from that planet, and they have the ability to go into a state of suspended hibernation, making themselves look just like toy teddy bears.

He said he traded places with Myke Feinman's toy teddy bear shortly after Myke stuffed the bear in Schaumburg, Illinois.

Our only question here at Ink & Feathers Comics is: What do Orishans do with teddy bears when they take their place?

Captain Schaumburg Harmony, deployed with United States Teddy Bear Elite Forces, has been named the official mascot for the Guardian Bear Project, which plans to place a teddy bear into the hands of every single child of Illinois National Guard and Illinois National Air Guard members. That's 170,000 teddy bears!

The purpose of the project, according to Schaumburg, is to insure that all human cubs have something to hug while their mommy and/or daddy are away, deployed for the National Guard.

So far, Schaumburg and Myke have secured a donation of 138 teddy bears, a donation from Build-A- Bear Workshop; headquartered in St. Louis, MO and the creators of Schaumburg's basic design. His personality, however, is all from his daddy, Myke.
