The Planet Orisha

As readers learn in "The Teddy Bear Conspiracies," a novel by Myke Feinman, the inhabitants of a planet called Orisha look just like teddy bears. The Orishans travel to Earth and meet a journalist named Samuel Arctophile. They tell him about their planet.

Here's an excerpt from "The Teddy Bear Conspiracies":

"We come from a planet called Orisha," Schaumburg said. "The planet orbits a star which humans call 47 Ursae Majoris in the constellation Ursa Major."
"The Great Bear," Sam mused with a smile. "Figures."

"Our home world is 43 light-years from Earth, and it takes us 23 days to journey to Earth by a hyper-space driven vehicle," Schaumburg continued.

"This planet is covered with lush green forests, fed by our warm sun, underground rivers and streams that nurture the flora and fauna above the ground. We build our homes in the mountainsides, calling them caves. They look very similar to Earth homes, only we use round doors and the roof is the top of a mountain or hill. It constantly rains on our home world, but there are also lots of beautiful rainbows when it stops. The temperature stays steady at about 72 degrees. The atmosphere is thinner than Earth's, with traces of argon and helium. There are many waterfalls and deep green seas as well, teaming with life. We Orishans love to eat all types of seafood, and wild berries that grow all over our planet."

"Sounds like a beautiful paradise," Sam said.

"It's beautiful," Leni said. "And all of our sentient inhabitants look like us, but come in many shapes and colors," Leni offered. "We all live in harmony and most follow the precepts offered by the Mystical Order of the Golden Paw. The masters of that order protect our home world with a powerful spell of love, which surrounds the planet. The shield of love is why the Arjogun have never conquered us. It seems the gray aliens are allergic to love, or something. It makes them violently ill whenever they come near our home world."

"Yes, our planet is safe from their invasion, but not yours," Schaumburg said.
